Before you decide that you are going to hire an interior designer, you should find some inspiration for your project. Many clients have accumulated magazine clippings of rooms or designs they like, fabric swatches that they have been drawn to or even pieces of art that have inspired them. We find all of these items together with a list of all your wants and needs for our first meeting as this is vital to a successful design.

Once you have made the decision to use an interior designer and have set up a meeting we will come to your home.  Meeting at your home is the best place as it helps us to see how you live and your style.  At this point we can review your design inspiration file along with your wants and needs.

Written Proposal:

After we have met and know what the project entails, we will typically put together a written proposal tailored to your project’s specific needs, so that you have a sense of the fees and also the scope of our work.  You can then review the proposal and decide how much involvement you would like from us, ie. Having us project manage, shop, co-ordinate all orders and deliveries etc. or you may want to have the plan and execute it on your own and have us on standby on an hourly basis as needed.

Design Proposal:

We can now begin the design proposal which again will be tailored to your project specific needs.  At this time we will start the planning process which can include floor plans, 3D drawings, elevation drawings,  a design booklet with furniture, lighting and accessory selections, fabric samples, paint colours, material selections including counter tops, tiles etc.  We will then set up a meeting to review the design proposal with you.

At this stage after the design proposal has been presented and the client has made the decision as to the designer’s involvement in the project. In some projects, the client will take the proposal and follow through on their own with their design booklet as a reference.  In other cases we start the management and shopping/ordering process. If your decision has been to have us involved, we will review the timeline for your project as different items have different lead times.
